11/20/2012

A busy Tuesday night at the temple.  We went to the 5:00  session thinking we could do two sessions and it was so busy we left and went outside to wait for the 6:00 session.  It was actually a fairly cool night with a little breeze blowing - it  was nice.  Pres. Rodrigues from the West Mission was there with his elders who are leaving tomorrow.  The Browns were also there.  Elder Mejia was there (he helped teach Tati and some other friends of Scott's)  and he told us that his home ward is Tres Brasos.  That is where we go each Sunday to take William's family so we were all excited.
So many of the missionaries here are from other sections of the Caribbean area.  They haven't had many North American missionaries here since we have been here.  We may see more with the change in numbers of missionaries.
The Despains dropped by today after walking down to Costilla Adan.  They invited us to go have dinner there with them for Thanksgiving but we had just bought a turkey and stuff for dinner here so they are going to come here.  I am missing home and my family.  Since being here I have wondered how those people in the spirit world survive without being able to call home and talk to the people they love so much.  I guess they have a much broader perspective because I am sure that love is still in their hearts.
One thing I know to be true is:  Without the gospel we have nothing. I am so grateful in this time of  darkness surrounding us we have a beacon of light.
