What a day! Fast Sunday and a day of travel and teaching. This morning was fun with William and AltaGracia's kids. However they have dug a trench along one side of the road and piled the dirt on the road. The road is barely big enough for a car anyway so now you have to drive up on the piles of dirt and wait if there is another car coming. Each Sunday I just know we are going to end up in the trench but we must be being protected because we made it through again today. These little girls are just so much fun. There are four young ones 6-9 that are just fascinated with what is different about us. Today in Sacrament meeting I was rubbing Maria's back and she noticed I had something on my legs. Then I realized they had never seen nylons before so they all had to feel my foot with hose on.
Then they take my hand to compare the color with theirs and were just amazed that my skin is such a different color. Their innocence is so much fun to observe. I thought today that they should come to our apartment and spend some time with us - making cookies, painting nails, singing - lots of things they never have the opportunity to do. I mentioned it to them (in Spanish mind you) and they were ecstatic. So during Christmas vacation we are planning to spend a day with them. Haven't talked to their mothers yet though. I am so excited!!
Today when we got there to pick up the kids a cute little 5 year old boy came out with Katy and climbed in the car. We didn't know him or if he was to go with us or what but we didn't want to get picked up for kidnapping so Scott went back to Williams to ask Oglidia. Sure enough, he was one of her relatives and wanted to go to church with the kids. We just pray that some day these kids remember going and want to be a part of the gospel themselves. But until then we are just grateful to have them to love and enjoy.
We traveled safety out to San Crystobol where they were all ready and set up for us. It is so nice when we don't have to find the tables and set them up. So we just carry in 15 keyboards and cords, etc. This class is moving more rapidly than the others we have taught. Today there were 12 men and 6 women there. Their Bishop is amazing! He is taking the class himself and had printed off the computer music books for all of the students. That saves us so much time and money!
Back across the city to Oriental to start getting the kids ready for a recital in a month. They are scared to death to play with two hands but they can do it so we will see how it goes....!
Of course everyone is getting together tonight to watch the Christmas devotional from the Church but we are pooped! We'll watch it on our computer in our pjs.
Scott took some pictures on his way through the alley to William's house. This is the ladder to his house with Oglidia standing by the door to the house.
It looks so much better in the picture than it is!! And here is the street I was talking about before with the trench and piles of dirt we travel down to pick them up..
